Covid Update 15th December 2021
With rising Covid cases and the concern about the Omicron variant, our first minister has urged Scots to limit indoor mixing to no more than three households over Christmas and reduce social contacts “as much as possible” in the coming weeks to help slow the spread of the variant. She has also stated that businesses are now legally required to take steps to reduce the spread of Covid. With this in mind and with a heavy heart, we feel we need to cancel all our upcoming social events and gatherings.
We are making arrangements to refund all bookings for the Breakfast with Santa and Christmas lunch and we will post information on how to collect any cash refunds (or credit vouchers if preferred) in the next day or so. We thank you for your patience and understanding and hope that you and your loved ones have merry and safe Christmas.
Compassionate Inverclyde are working in partnership with the Broomhill Hub Café on a new Project to offer a Caring Cuppa to anyone who needs it.
The idea is that people can buy a cup of coffee for a stranger, because a small act of kindness can change a life. You never know what another person is truly going through, so even an act of kindness as small as buying a cup of coffee for a stranger could serve to seriously brighten their day, help combat feelings of isolation and let them see that others care.
Suspended coffee, or caffe sospeso, is a tradition that comes from Naples, Italy, and dates to at least the turn of the 20th century. When customers buy coffee, they also pay in advance for a cup to be given to somebody else -- usually someone who otherwise couldn't afford it. Customers can pay £2 to donate a Caring Cuppa at the Cafe. Anyone who wants a receive a Cuppa can pick up a card in the Cafe to use to purchase a Cuppa.
